Democracy Day?

His having lost a referendum on Senate and regional government reform was not the real, underlying reason for the resignation of President de Gaulle in April 1969. If Brown lost his simultaneous referendums on the Alternative Vote for the Commons and on replacing the House of Lords with something elected from party lists, then those proposals themselves would not be the reason why, although they would deserve to be. Think on.
