For The Country, The Sublime and The Flag

Five years on, and the forces of secularisation as the means to the Islamisation of Lebanon are at it again. Is the confessional system ideal? Far from it, although it is worth pointing out that while seats are reserved, election to them is by universal suffrage, and that everyone has a seat that they are free to contest, unlike the ban on Jewish or Roma Senators or Presidents in Bosnia. But without confessionalism, we all know what would become of Lebanon. Yet again, neoconservatism, secular liberalism at an age where it has its finger on the trigger, lines up with militant Islam. Just as in Bosnia, in fact.
