The Lindsay Plan

While it is possible that neither Labour nor the Tories will actually win, it is certain that one or other of them will lose, since one of them will have fewer seats than the other. I am therefore applying for the Leadership of whichever that is, on the following basis:

- Contesting every seat in the House of Commons;

- Having at least one local candidate, because it is good electioneering, on the shortlist of two in each constituency, to be put out to a binding ballot of every registered voter in the constituency; and

- Spending the same amount in every constituency, including the legal maximum once the next General Election is called.

They know where I am.

  1. As is of course your point, neither of them would every do this, which is why one of them is doomed this time and the other will be doomed next time. They are both finished.

  2. The only qestion is in which order they die. As soon as either does, then the other rapidly will. And as soon as they both do, then the Lib Dems will even more rapidly than they would if First Past The Post were ever replaced.

  3. I will bet all the money in my pockets against all the money in your pockets that both Labour and the Conservatives will continue to be political forces long after David Lindsay ceases to be one. If, indeed, he ever becomes one.
