Wareing Down

The retirement of Bob Wareing is very sad news, though hardly unexpected, since there is only so much that a widower of 78 can be expected to endure.

Savagely suspended from the House for an infraction for which the same committee did not even ask Mo Mowlam to apologise, and then replaced from on high with someone whose only qualifications were to have chaired Labour Friends of Israel (a peerage-selling bureau, i.e., a highly successful example of organised crime) and to have been "very friendly indeed" with another past holder of that office, James Purnell. A schoolgirl who has also chaired LFI has been imposed on another Liverpool seat on no grounds except that and her sexual services to Euan Blair. The current Vice-Chairman is a sitting Liverpool MP seeking re-election.

Wareing's is the fate of a Campaign Group member who opposed embryonic stem cell "research" and who was right about the neoconservative war agenda from the get-go in Yugoslavia. Will we see his like on the green benches again? Only if we organise to elect that like. A project which now has absolutely nothing to do with the dead body ridiculously still calling itself the Labour Party.
