Nothing To Debate

We shouldn't be holding these things at all. But if we must, then of course they should be restricted to those whose parties, by contesting more than half the seats in the House of Commons, are in principle capable of winning the General Election.

The SNP and Plaid Cymru will see who is or is not the voice of Scotland or Wales, at least relatively speaking, when each of them takes fewer votes and fewer seats than both Labour and the Tories in Scotland and Wales alike.

  1. Very naive. You can't understand the difference between the consititution and politics. No-one elected at Westminster is the voice of Scotland, even if they have a majority of Scottish seats. Look at Labour now. And don't think the power of the Crown-in-Parliament matters. Power is held by the last person to handle the money. Surely all these years in local government must have taught you that. If not, perhaps you should visit Scotland and look for all the foundation schools, hospital trusts and privatised water companies. Good luck.

What about in Canada where the Bloc Quebecois leader participates in the leadership debates when it only contests 75 seats out of over 300.

Is it time the Queen personally intervened to put a stop that nonsense?

From your record on non-Anglophone minorities in Anglophone countries, I trust you want all Francophone Canadians taken to the forests where deep holes have been dug in advance-----------

  3. Why on earth haven't you been included in the leaders' debates, David?

  4. Anonymous, past your bedtime, dear. Like the SNP, in fact. Plaid Cymru is already fast asleep.

Powerful Pierre, I heartily approve of Frnch Canadains, the Crown's subjects since before the Revolution and thus undefined by it. Hence the fleur-de-lys and the very public Catholicism. And hence the consistent rejection of separatism, no matter how many times they are asked.

Sequin, they can't afford my fee.
