On 1 May, Manchester City Council started the process of looking into leasing out Floor 2 of Heron House, which is now No 10. North. On 11 May, it firmly committed to doing so. On 14 May, Josh Simons resigned as MP for Makerfield.
On 10 June, the Council finalised and confirmed the Heron House lease agreement. On 18 June, Andy Burnham won the Makerfield by-election. On 20 July, he became Prime Minister without a contest. On 21 July, civil servants started working at No. 10 North.
On 24 July, Burnham officially opened No. 10 North before chairing there the inaugural meeting of the latest National Economic Council, which includes two Conservatives and six members of Reform UK, who are sitting on that Cabinet committee without reference to Kemi Badenoch or Nigel Farage.
And that, brothers and sisters, is how you stage a coup.
