Splendid news that, since English is now only the second official language of two small member states, the EU institutions are considering the position of their horrific impersonation of it.
Good French, good anything, would be better than bad English, and this is very bad English, devised by people with no background whatever in the literary tradition. English without the literature is, of course, no English at all.
If it is "the language of Shakespeare" that they want, then let them speak and write in rhyming couplets of iambic pentameter, replete with Classical allusions and clever puns.
