The two most important things that are happening in Britain at the moment are the inquiry into the Manchester Arena attack, and the inquiry into the fire at Grenfell Tower.
That latter has increased the profile of Emma Dent Coad, who understandably intends to seek to regain the seat that she lost by a mere 150 votes. But regain it for what? The Labour Party is once again tied at 41 per cent with the worst Government in living memory, and that would translate into a healthy Conservative overall majority.
So much for being 20 points ahead. To have any hope of that, then Labour would need a Leader who challenged white replacement theory and who ruled out a British version of the Israeli Nation-State Law, at least an openness to both of which became Labour Party policy live on air yesterday.
That party's membership is in free fall, while its constituency organisations are lining up to affiliate to something with the domain name thecorbynproject.com and with the Twitter handle @corbyn_project. That in turn is largely being funded by cancelled Labour Party subscriptions. It already has more registered supporters than the Brexit Party had at its peak, and it is well on the way to passing the Liberal Democrats, the Greens and the SNP, probably by the end of this week.
There is no suggestion that the Labour Party might itself be mistaken for any sort of project for peace and justice. The half-educated dullards who are back in charge of it have no idea what a big deal Jeremy Corbyn still is among the rising masses of the Three Continents, who are now more closely connected to each other than ever before, and who are of course handsomely represented in "the world in one city". He has also been a stalwart of the British anti-racist movement longer than any other active politician. Corbyn would certainly win Mayor of London, and he would probably do so on first preferences alone.
In time for next spring, when there may very well also be a General Election, right-wing Labour Councillors are being reselected mechanically, and the selection is proceeding apace of Buggins' turn believers in the machine as the end in itself, predictable and predicted 20 years ago and more. But the machine is already en route to the scrapyard. I am the Independent parliamentary candidate for North West Durham. What are you doing?
