Boris Johnson's deal will confirm that he was never a Leaver, he just wanted to be the Leader of the Conservative Party, and even that only in order to be Prime Minister. He has barely any background in the Conservative Party.
And Keir Starmer's whip in favour of that deal will confirm that he was never more than an on-balance Remain voter, he just wanted to be the Leader of the Labour Party. Although he has practically no background in the Labour Party.
Johnson is rarely a man of his word, but he has always explicitly ruled out WTO terms and insisted that there would be a deal. He has been entirely faithful to that, if to nothing and no one else in his life. He remains prepared to extend the transition period as many times as it might take in order to ensure a deal.
History will record that the best hope of a real Brexit was in 2017, before Starmer had got to Jeremy Corbyn. But I am the Independent parliamentary candidate for North West Durham. What are you doing?
