Don't Be DUPed

At Westminster, all that interests the DUP is getting as much money as possible spent on the Protestant working class and the Protestant farmers of Northern Ireland.

That is the basis on which its supporters vote for it at General Elections.

In principle, there is nothing wrong with that, provided that the increased public spending there were also extended per capita everywhere else.

But it is a complete mystery why anyone ever expected the DUP to restrain, say, the teaching of sex changes to small children in England.

Viewers of Derry Girls will have heard the "different standards" and "bunch of savages" remarks about the English. That is not an Irish Catholic thing. That is simply an Irish thing.

Being Irish, the DUP expects nothing better of the English than that they will teach small children about sex changes. And the English are busily proving that the DUP's Irish view is correct.

But what of it? At Westminster, all that interests the DUP is getting as much money as possible spent on the Protestant working class and the Protestant farmers of Northern Ireland.

That is the basis on which its supporters vote for it at General Elections.

In return for that, will it vote in favour of Theresa May's Brexit deal? If it did not, then its MPs would never be able to go home.
