Anna Soubry was a local newsreader who was made the candidate for a highly marginal seat in the hope that her existing public profile would help her over the line.
That worked, but it means that she knows little or nothing about how politics works.
In my experience, more and more politicians seem to expect to be treated in the way that the Royal Family were treated before Diana, and as the Royal Family have come to be treated again in the present century.
But unlike the Royal Family, they do not know when to stop. They will not rest until we all have to curtsy as their cars go past, or else their heavy "security" will shoot us.
Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it.
It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post.

Of course. Some politicians, like the convicted liar Osamor, also seem to think they benefit from immunity from prosecution (like the royal family in some despotism). Surprised Labour kicked her out. I thought they were in favour of criminals; Diane Abbott’s even called in Sajid Javid to let illegal immigrants in.
