There is rather a lot of fuss around Corbynism: A Critical Approach, by Matt Bolton and Frederick Harry Pitts.
It is a very welcome book, because it sets out how and why Corbynism, insofar as there is any such "ism", is incompatible with the Marxist theory that the clearly very sheltered authors assume to be universally accepted as paradigmatic and definitive.
Thus, the book's effect, if certainly not its intention, is to set out how and why Corbynism is not in fact a product of Marxist theory, but is instead a searing critique of it, in many ways taking up where Blue Labour left off.
There is a reason why Maurice Glasman now writes for the Morning Star. And there is a reason why the Morning Star now lets him.
Very few Labour MPs understand any of this, or ever will. Even fewer Labour MPs are ever going to identify with it.
Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it.
It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post.
I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
