No Bar To Office

When Emily Thornberry married Christopher Nugee, then he was still seven years off becoming a QC, never mind a High Court judge.

They were just two barristers, one of whom had grown up in a council house that would have been neither sought by, nor allocated to, a "well-connected academic" or whatever we are expected by her enemies to imagine that her mother was.

As for cases in which Thornberry has acted in the past and which involved the Armed Forces, the Bar operates a cab rank system; Cherie Blair used to act against her own husband's Government on a fairly regular basis, and not without success.

Thornberry's husband's brother, a Major-General, is the Defence Services Secretary. Not that it matters.
