Capability Assessment

It turns out that the Work Capability Assessment costs more to administer than it saves in withdrawn or denied benefits.

I have failed it at least twice, and I am not a well man.

Please note that you can have any job and be on the Personal Independence Payment. David Blunkett will have received the old Disability Living Allowance while he was the Secretary of State responsible for it. So this is not about that.

But my very obviously disabled friend was refused the Personal Independence Payment because he had turned up to the interview, allegedly proving that he did not need it.

You are, of course, automatically refused it if you do not turn up to the interview. No matter how ill you are.

And it turns out that the whole thing costs more to administer than it saves in withdrawn or denied benefits.
