Britain's famous fidelity to the rule of law will come as news to the Chagossians.
And speaking of colonies, Keir Starmer proposes to reduce Britain to vassal statehood, less self-governing than the British Overseas Territories or the Crown Dependencies, and less devolved than Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland.
Labour has abandoned the second referendum policy that reduced it to a remnant presence last year, but it now wants Britain to remain subject to the State Aid rules of Margaret Thatcher's Single Market, only outside the institutions that determine those rules.
George Monbiot manages to work opposition to "Hard Brexit" into his otherwise excellent survey and critique of Britain's vast corruption, but all of that has come to pass while we have been in the EU, and the interests that he excoriates wanted to stay in it.
Starmer's Labour is offering something even better for them, and even worse for the rest of us.
