The Inaugurations of George W. Bush and of Barack Obama were also supposed to lead to secession and perhaps even to civil war. As, for that matter, was the Inauguration of Donald Trump.
Nor should any threat not to vacate the White House be taken seriously. Trump might have attempted that if he had won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College. For him or for any other Republican, however, that is the least likely of all scenarios.
