Part of Everyday Life?

Just how far is Consett from the nearest Metro station? It's really not that bad an idea, is it? And Richard Holden has promised it, so let's hold him to it. That arc of towns in northern County Durham, beginning in Consett and stretching round to the coast, ought to be on the Metro.

We have some new MPs, and several newly marginal seats. Next year, Durham County Council will go to No Overall Control, sweeping out a ruling Labour element that is pathologically hostile to public transport, and wedded to Tony Blair's view that anyone who was still using it after the age of 25 was a loser, because there was no such thing as society. This is a moment to be seized.

I will be standing for Parliament again here at North West Durham next time, so please give generously. In any event, please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
