Who got the Buckingham Palace dinner tickets that Jeremy Corbyn, Vince Cable and John Bercow didn't want? I'd have bought a raffle ticket for that.
Corbyn was not the Leader of the Opposition, nor would he have been considered likely to be, when Barack Obama came on a State Visit.
But the anti-war movement was thoroughly critical of Obama, whether or not anyone paid any attention, so there is no reason to assume that Corbyn would not have refused to dine with him.
He would certainly have refused to have dined with Hillary Clinton, who would by now have blown up much of the world, having come pretty close to it when she was Secretary of State.
On balance, I think that Corbyn's approach to Donald Trump's State Visit has been the wrong one. But he has certainly not adopted it only because the State Visitor has happened to be Donald Trump.
