Ah, Milo Yiannopoulos, Damian Thompson's gift to the world. Now banned from Facebook and Instagram, along with the likes of Louis Farrakhan. It is difficult to feel sorry for them, although Silicon Valley might consider that Bill Clinton recently shared a dais with Farrakhan at the funeral of Aretha Franklin.
Despite the fact that it is rapidly losing control even of the Democratic Party, never mind of the United States, American liberalism still presumes that it should both dictate from New York the economic and thus political fate of the rest of us, and dictate from California our cultural and thus political parameters. There is no doubt whatever that Big Tech corporations are effectively arms of the American liberal Deep State.
But remember that it is Huawei that is the problem. Of course it is. (By the way, if Gavin Williamson is telling the truth, then he should sue Theresa May for libel.) Britain might soon have a Government that the permanent American liberal Deep State, even if not necessarily the transient Trump Administration, would have every reason to want to shut down.
And the Americans really do these things, because they feel entitled to do them. When have the Chinese ever done them? China's only interests in Britain are commercial. It has no military bases here that a Corbyn Government might want to close, nor does it expect any British military support that a Corbyn Government might deny it. But remember that it is Huawei that is the problem. Of course it is.
Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post. I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
