Colonial Status

In point of fact, although it can, the Parliament of the United Kingdom does not enact domestic legislation for the British Overseas Territories.

Under the Government's Brexit plans, the United Kingdom would be considerably more colonial than those Territories were.

But we know all about colonial status here in North West Durham. This greatest British political drama of most of our lifetimes is being played out with no participation on our behalf.

We are expected to be pitifully grateful that a bit of pairing is also disenfranchising someone else for the odd night, and that someone in the MP's office is still advising callers to try putting a saucer of milk at the bottom of the tree.

Well, I am not, and nor should you be.

It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post. I will stand for this parliamentary seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign.
