Production Values

The Right goes bananas about "producer capture".

Except when Donald Trump wants a surgeon as Secretary of Health, or a recently retired General as Secretary of Defense.

  1. Well, the destruction of Uber as a low-price alternative-to give British Uber drivers the same rights as those of their expensive competitors- is a classic example of the producer interest trumping (so to speak) the consumer interest.

Uber's sudden disruptive entry into the taxi market, driving prices down, showed how free market competition disrupts established monopolies and brings prices down for consumers.

Unlike traditional cab firms, Uber drivers didn't have to train or learn "The Knowledge" and had the freedom to start earning money from Day One. While poor people who could never previously afford taxis, had the freedom to order a cab. It was a win-win.

Now, that is over, thanks to high-minded people who think the market needs to be "regulated" and thus end up pricing the poor out of it.

    1. Yes, that's Unite, the GMB and the RMT all over. Isn't it?
