Peering Into The Future

Giving up on curbing the powers of the House of Lords means giving up on ever passing the legislation to repeal the European Communities Act, or even to invoke Article 50.

Long before Tony Blair changed the composition of that House, indeed long before anyone had ever so much as heard of Tony Blair, Tony Benn tried to tell you that you could have it or what is now called Brexit, but not both.

That remains the case.

As it will with or without Lord Farage, who in any case has gone full Dudley Moore and will no more be back in British politics than Peter Noone will ever again be appearing in Coronation Street.
