Its a victory for rich people and the corporate monopolies of big companies. Like all regulated markets.
ReplyDeleteFree markets, as epitomised by Uber, challenge big corporate monopolies and allow in innovative new competitors and lower prices for consumers.
Now, taxis will again be the preserve of the rich and the winners will be the rip-off merchants like Addison Lee, who hate Uber.
The losers will be the poor people who were for the first time able to afford regular taxi rides thanks to the dramatically lower price of an Uber.
I don't know what the "corporate" monopoly" is in the London taxi trade. The nearest ever threat to create one has come from Uber.
