"He Must Have Had A Very Tough Paper Round"

We'd all look older if that had been our childhood.

And non-white boys always do look older to a certain sort of white person.

The picture that everyone is bandying about is of a translator.

Many of the rest look like many of the teenage boys, who are almost all white, in this old mining and steelworking area.

That's the School of Hard Knocks for you.

  1. Loving you on Guido about this, "If you don't come from the world of the unlined faces of David Cameron and George Osborne, then you have no difficulty whatever in believing that these are teenage boys."

  2. I thought exactly that when I saw them. The baby faced public schoolboys who write the tabloids might struggle to believe these boys are about 15 but their readers would take it as a given.

    1. The position of the present Government (remind me which party it is) is that the last word on this goes to the charities in the field. And they have spoken. So this story hasn't even lasted an entire day.

  3. You can't give children dental tests without parental consent.

    1. I demand a dental test on David T.C. Davies MP. Look at those gnashers.

  4. "A British Dental Association spokesman said it was "vigorously opposed" to the use of dental X-rays to try to determine the age of asylum seekers. "It's not only an inaccurate method for assessing age, but it is both inappropriate and unethical to take radiographs of people when there is no health benefit for them," he added. Doctors of the World UK also called the idea "unethical and unnecessary", saying "healthcare workers are not border guards"."

He isn't trying to sneak into the country illegally by lying about his age.

    They are,

Dental tests are common for asylum seekers in other European countries where they don't have the BBC and the Guardian.

    1. Oh, do give it up, you lost this one half a day ago now. I wouldn't rate Davies's chances of being a Conservative candidate in 2020. He comes across as an over-broad satire of a Tory, left on the cutting room floor at Channel 4 in preference for something more subtle.
