Happy Canada Day

But all Britons, Canadians, Australians and New Zealanders ought to be thoroughly ashamed of the fact that the Americans feel no need to spy on us, or at least not properly.

If ours were self-respecting, sovereign states, then the Americans would treat us exactly as they treat the French and the Germans, and we would treat the Americans exactly as the French and the Germans do.

Still, at least this whole thing ought to kill off the wretched US-EU "free trade" deal. Just ask the Canadians about that sort of thing.

God Save The Queen.

  1. WWII marked the transformation from a British Empire-Commonwealth characterised by the UK at its heart with the Dominions around it in uneasy relationship with the Great Republic, to a pax Americana characterised by the US at its heart with the new Dominions (first among them the UK) around it.

  2. But that was 70 years ago.

And British Governments did not in fact control Dominion ones so completely that they saw no reason to keep tabs on them. Very far from it.

Yet that seems to be the relationship of the other four eyes to the fifth one.
