On the one hand, the political levy, which the trade unions themselves merely collect and then pass on to the Labour Party from the millions of ordinary working people who choose to pay it.
On the other hand, enormous donations from single individuals, frequently not British and almost never resident in the United Kingdom from tax purposes, or from corporations with opaque tax arrangements and which never ask their shareholders if they want their money spent in this way.
There is simply no comparison whatever.
Fifty thousand pounds? Five thousand pounds? Five hundred pounds? Forget any of that. Ban any donation greater than the political levy.
