The Holy City of Nagasaki

As Joshua Snyder puts it:

"At 11:02 AM, two-thirds of Japan's Catholics were annihilated; ... more Japanese Christians were slaughtered than had been martyred in four centuries of brutal persecution."

  1. You almost never hear about this aspect of the Nagasaki bombing in the United States. I think most Americans would be surprised that there were any Christians in Japan in 1945 or even now.

Most people I know are surprised when I tell them how many Christians there are in South Korea, despite the fact that Korean-language churches are abundant where I live. Most folks think the Koreans only converted when they arrived in the States.

  2. Well, that is certainly one way of justifying in their own minds the immigration and trade policies of the GOP Establishment or the Clintons.
