So that's that, then.
"Independence and sovereignty"? Who took it away in the first place? Not only a question for Iraq.
And "advice and assistance"? I have some: never, ever get involved in anything like this again.

I don't think there will be another Iraq anytime soon. The people have soured on that kind of extreme interventionism and, I think, so has the military. The politicians, of course, are another story. There is always Iran...
Oh, and let's not forget the think-tank dwellers. They are probably the worst culprits because they are the most shielded from reality and the consequences of the policies they push.
The incoming troops will simply be sent to Afghanistan. There's no end for those poor souls.
Not to sound like a warmonger, but if we are going to have another military intervention, the most sensible location is our southern neighbor: Mexico. Mexico's Cartel War is causing their country to fall apart and having violence spill into our border states. In recent days, it is all becoming much worse. Sending military aid to Mexico is more sensible for our national security than Operation Iraqi Freedom ever was!
But who am I kidding? American citizens and politicians don't care about Mexico, never did. As Mr. Piccolo said, if we go anywhere next, it would be Iran, or North Korea, or Pakistan, or Syria, or... you get the idea. Washington will make a reason to invade; they made several reasons for Iraq.
