The Biggest Financial Scandal In British Political History

The ongoing fabulous enrichment of Tony Blair as his reward for lying this country into war.

  1. Doesn't really work like that, though, does it? Tony Blair would be making plenty of money now, as an ex-PM on the old politicians' circuit, whether there had been a war or not.

  2. I doubt it - who'd otherwise pay to hear him? People would more likely pay not to.

And he is vastly richer than any of his predecessors. But then, none of them did pseudo-conservative America's bidding by lying this country into war.

  3. Tony B Liar would be rich via his books, lectures etc but has indeed increased the value of the Brand due to his craven support for USA.

The effect has been that he does not have to do the chat show circuit (Jonathan Ross etc) and Have I Got News For You, which pay buttons.
He can chase the mega bucks.

  4. Is anyone even going to buy his book? If so, why?

  5. I don't know - who pays to hear John Major, margaret Thatcher? And who paid to hear ted heath, Callaghan, Wilson etc etc etc

John JG Mooney - which other PMs have ever done HIGNFY or chat shows after retiring to make money? Don't be silly.

I think you two are slightly blind to the fact that, whether you like him or not, a lot of people are very keen to hear a former PM talk about his term, and to read their thoughts. And that the war wasn't all a giant conspiracy to make him rich. John Major has done equally well since leaving office.

  6. No.
I dont see my purpose in life to make Tony B Liar richer.
But as every student of politics and/or history should be told on Day 1..........autobiography is the least reliable "source" material.

  7. And his are the least reliable of all.

Ching, Major has done nowhere near as well, even after all these years, as Blair has already managed. And no other reason for this war presents itself - it was purely and simply to make Blair rich.

  8. Alas, it is only too credible.

  9. Ching.....the number of previous PMs available to appear on HIGNFY is rather limited dontcha think?
Cant actually see Thatcher on it or Major.
BLiar who after all appeared on Red Nose Day would seem ideal for the fun fest.
You may have noticed the appearances of other ex Party leaders such as Charles Kennedy and William Hague....of BLiars generation.
Therefore I am not being "silly" but its nice to be called "silly" by someone called CHING.

  10. I heard Blair once wanted to do an after hours tour of the bank of England, only so he could sneak down to the vaults and grab some of the cash. The Governor had to personally intervene to stop him.

    All makes sense now

  11. It was gold there, not cash.

    He wouldn't either now, though.
