"Colonial Interference"?

Everyone knows that the MDC is funded from Britain. The Zimbabwean people still voted for it. Clearly, they want ties to Britain. Their quarrel was with Ian Smith's Rhodesia, no more a friend of Britain's than a friend of theirs. Or, at least, it was until Thatcher refused to recognise Muzorewa, holding out for the Soviet-backed Nkomo as if he would have been any better than the Chinese-backed Mugabe. We should take this opportunity to rebuild the bridges. That is what people in Zimbabwe want. After all, that is what they knowingly voted for.
