What About The Workers?

One of the guarantees that the Irish Government (hardline neoliberal, but still with some standards) was trying to demand in its renegotiation of the Lisbon Treaty related to workers’ rights.

But one other government blocked that.

Guess which one.

We need a proper Labour Party.

Now.

Oh, you're still banging the old British People's Alliance drum, are you? I thought you'd given up on that one.

Not a bit of it.

I thought about it during and after I was in hospital.

But who the hell else is there?

If we don't do this, then who will?

Well, I'm not sure - but then I'm not sure the British People's Alliance will do much either. You're only going for MEP seats - and even if you won one of those (a big if), you couldn't do much to affect UK government policy in this area.

Strasbourg just happens to be the first election coming up, that's all. So that is when we are going to launch ourselves.

Under a form of PR, and with an extremely low turnout that favours those who organise under the media radar to get the vote out.

That's what the BNP will be doing. Would you rather have them instead?

Yes, that's obviously what I want. Clearly anyone who doubts the electoral force of the BPA must be a closet BNP fan.

Don't be so silly.

The Euro elections aren't the first - there have been plenty of locals since you launched your party, and some high profile bye- elections. Why didn't you stand in them?

We have said from the outset that we wouldn't be contesting anything before the European Elections.

Doodie, you'd be suprised how many of them are. At the very least, a good BNP showing (and it's natural appeal is to traditional Labour voters, not Tories - I see nothing but the BPA standing between it and at least 12 Strasbourg seats in June) would suit their purposes down to the ground.

The entire white working class, great swathes of the country, and numerous perfectly legitimate concerns could then be written off as "BNP".

That is why they are lavishing publicity on it. Don't let them pull this one off.
