Where Have All The Sperm Donors Gone?

I will not be taking this opportunity to write about the morality or otherwise of artificial insemination as such, save to say that those who use it clearly do not mind a baby who is not biologically their own, so would that there were the babies for them to adopt, babies who have mostly been aborted instead these days.

But I do not believe that the drying up of the supply of sperm donors is because of the abolition of anonymity, or because the money to be made is not exactly hand over fist.

Rather, it is because men have taken the Government at its word. Much like the Reformation Parliament's abolition of Purgatory as if that were within its power to do, this country's Statute Law now decrees that a man is not in fact necessary for the production of a child, but instead that two women can be named on a birth certificate as the parents.

One need hardly add that, true to its long record both in and out of office, the utterly pointless "Conservative" Party did not whip its MPs to oppose this Bill, and indeed far more of those MPs, including numerous Shadow Ministers, voted in favour of it than voted against it.
