I'll Be Glad When Odoacer Gets Here

  1. It's hardly the decline and fall of the Roman Empire, David. Do get a grip.

  2. Oh, but it is. More or less exactly, in fact. Once the whores take over the levers of political power...

  3. If you think that appearing before a select committee is taking over the levers of political power, you've got a lot to learn.

  4. It's the fact that he was let through the door. Would never have happened pre-Blair. Before you can remember, if you write like that, of course.

  5. He's not a schoolboy, he's a pimp. No one else would defend these things.

  6. He's a loathsome man. But given that the Government is considering tightening the regulation of lapdancing clubs, it's not unreasonable to allow their opponents to give evidence.

  7. If he knows who Odoacer was, then he is both the best-educated schoolboy and the best-educated pimp in Britain today.

  8. Didn't you once take Peter Stringfellow to Klute?

  9. I was merely in attendance.

Still, I suppose that it made a change for him. He ordinarily goes to nightclubs.

  10. If Peter Stringfellow knows who Odoacer was? I don't suppose he does - but I'm not sure how that's relevant.

  11. No, no, no ... well, anyway, back on topic, please.

  12. How was that off-topic? It was about Peter Stringfellow and Odoacer. What more do you want?

  13. Rather a lot more of that, specifically, if you have any...
