Rip-Off Britain (Cont.)

Massive bonuses for Network Rail bosses (just as some of their staff are going to have to strike because of low pay), who are congratulating themselves on a mere ninety per cent punctuality, which is punctuality as they define the word, not as anybody else understands it. And I don't care how much worse things are abroad.

Meanwhile, the water companies have just announced a billion pound profit just weeks after inflation-busting price rises for householders. Quoted groups United Utilities, Northumbrian Water, Pennon and Severn Trent, which "serve" millions, have posted pre-tax profits of £1.054 billion. This year's bills will be six per cent up on last year's, at £330 on average. Since the water industry was privatised in 1989, householders have been clobbered with an increase in real terms of 42%.

Public ownership.

Which, of course, means British ownership. How could any conservative possibly be against that? How could any conservative possibly be in favour of the ownership of key national resources by foreign interests? The only way to prevent that under all circumstances is public ownership.
