Lord Sumption has said what we always knew that they thought. These self-defined Alpha Males and their real or wannabe WAGs have been rendered incandescent by these mild constraints on their fun and games for the sake of us Untermenschen. Toby Young's involvement in the London Conference on Intelligence is wholly representative.
They have never spoken for anyone but themselves, but these people have been appeased ever since the premature lifting of the first lockdown, a lifting from the mass homicidal consequences of which we have been suffering ever since. We shall be suffering from them for a very long time yet.
The intellectual leader of the self-styled sceptics, Sumption is an immensely distinguished historian of the Middle Ages, and he remains the only person ever to have been appointed to the Supreme Court straight from the Bar. But he is no more an epidemiologist or a virologist than I am. And we now know for certain what he is.
