Testament of Youth

I am pleased to be maintaining my record as the latest-born person ever to have sought election above Parish level in Lanchester. No one who was born any later than 23rd September 1977 has ever even attempted to become a County Councillor for this ward, or ever attempted to become a District Councillor here when we had them.

There is no sign of any change to that record at next year's local elections. Not even with the retirement of the first man for whom I ever voted, while wearing my school uniform, and who has remained in office continuously until I was older than the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The comments are open, in which to list his achievements.

Good luck to the next batch of people looking for the allowances so that they might go part-time in the twilight of their working lives. Even if, like his, that twilight somehow managed to last 25 years. Yet again, no one else is even expressing an interest.
