Being an adult, the Conservative MP who was accused of rape should always have been named.
A new and pernicious convention seems to have been established that Members of Parliament in this position were treated entirely differently from anyone else.
Not that there was ever much chance that the Crown Prosecution Service was going to prosecute him. Think of Keir Starmer's whipped abstentions. But even so.
And being an adult, that MP's accuser should also have been named. Either we have an open system of justice, or we do not.
I am the Independent parliamentary candidate for North West Durham. What are you doing?
