The pitiful vote for Change UK at the European Elections will constitute the sum total of Blairite opinion in this country 14 years after Tony Blair last won a General Election. Blair and his remaining courtiers and flame-keepers ought therefore to be consigned to oblivion, and no longer asked what they thought about anything at all.
Some hope. Most Labour and at least half of Conservative MPs, as well as practically the entire news media, still regard Blair, who still turned only 66 yesterday, as the only legitimate Prime Minister for as long as he manages to stay alive, if not, as is happening with Margaret Thatcher, even after his death.
Another hung Parliament is coming, however, and we need our people to hold the balance of power in it. It has become a local commonplace that I am on 30-30-30 with Labour and the Conservatives here at North West Durham, so that any one of us could be the First Past the Post.
I will stand for this seat, if I can raise the £10,000 necessary to mount a serious campaign. Please email davidaslindsay@hotmail.com. Very many thanks.
