Every country has to hate something. The Irish used to hate the English, until they realised that no one could remember when or why the English had mattered enough in Ireland to have been worth hating.
Then the Irish hated the Catholic Church. But they will soon realise that no one can remember when or why the Catholic Church has mattered enough in Ireland to have been worth hating.
And at that point, the Irish will hate the EU.
