Right Out

One Party Leader is assumed to be of the view that Britain should no longer be a "tier one" military power, while the other is now on record to that effect. Meanwhile, the domestic policy debate is over which taxes to increase in order to spend more money on the National Health Service.

Not whether to spend more money on the NHS. Certainly not whether there ought to be one. Not even whether that money should be raised by additional taxation. But purely which taxes to put up for the purpose. And abroad, both Party Leaders no longer want Britain to be a "tier one" military power.

Welcome to our world, Righties. And I am most certainly including Labour Righties in that. Get used to poverty. Get used to blacklisting. Get used to being ridiculed, abused and defamed, when you are not simply being ignored.

Get used to never reading your views in the papers, or hearing them on the airwaves. Get used to having no one to vote for. Get used to being passed over for every political opportunity by parties that you had thought were yours.

Get used to being branded as foreign agents. Get used to Police harassment, and to the attentions of MI5, MI6 and GCHQ. Get used to courts that are stacked against you.

Get used, in other words, to all of your own old tricks.
