Review

As the Labour Right needs to rid itself of Simon Danzcuk, so the Labour Left does now need to rid itself of the 70-year-old Ken Livingstone.

There are other opponents of Trident on the National Executive Committee. Let one of those co-convene the Defence Policy Review.

But 593 people with depression have committed suicide because of the Work Capability Assessment imposed by Iain Duncan Smith (and by Yvette Cooper, Kevan Jones's choice for Labour Leader).

This is an opportunity to talk about that. Let us take it.

  1. It should be you on that Review as the anti-Trident voice.

    1. I was once all set to put up for the NEC, but my own CLP, under a previous regime, spitefully refused to nominate me. Ho, hum.

  2. If not Trident, then we still need some nuclear deterrent (no nuclear-armed state has ever been invaded).

The Labour Left know that they've ruined any credible case against Trident now, because they opposed us having the Bomb back when the Soviet Union had it.

Their creepy over-enthusiasm for it now is an attempt to get away from their past.

    1. Whatever else the Labour Left might have, it is certainly not enthusiasm for Trident.

Incompletely regurgitating one newspaper columnist is not a good look.

  3. Livingstone was pretty much the only socialist politician between Benn and Corbyn to attract a major public following. He is a valuable asset and I endorse and reiterate everything he said.

    1. For the London Mayorality, he won twice and then lost twice. His latest remarks were simply unacceptable, but he apologised only when Corbyn forced him to do so. He ought to retire from the NEC next time.
