The Second Time As Farce?

I sincerely hope not. But the stars are not good for George Galloway's Left eBook Club.

A couple of years ago, the original intention of Lanchester Books, back after the General Election along with the One Nation Society and everything else, had been electronic publication only. Those were the times.

But they are not now. I still use my Kindle. There will always be e-books. But mostly, there will always be books.

Just ask Melanie Phillips, whose electronic-only publishing venture, launched in a blaze of publicity and described as "a statement of international intent", has produced nothing in well over a year.

Even Peter Hitchens has most recently published himself through Amazon. The neoliberal bias of the publishing industry is very real indeed.

But whether this is the solution to it, is altogether a different question.
