Staggering

The now-demoted sometime Director of Labour North is sometimes said to "put the lower into lower-middle-class," and ought presumably to be writing for the New Statesman.

That perpetually, and even necessarily, pessimistic organ is concerned with the views current among that most twentieth-century of social categories.

It ought therefore to explain exactly which of its writers could be so described.

Or might be at all grateful for being so described.
