Whatever Happened To William Hague?

Nothing.

He was in the Cabinet at the time of Maastricht, so what on earth did you expect? The Minister who physically signed that Treaty on the United Kingdom's behalf is now the Chairman of the Conservative Party. One could go on.

Hague might have campaigned to save the pound at an Election which he knew that he was going to lose. But he didn't actually do it. That was Gordon Brown.

As much as anything else, Hague said at the time that it was only for the duration of the next Parliament. So we'd have been it by now. The man who stopped that was Gordon Brown.
