Putting The A Into Twitter

Still the emails and the attempted comments pour in: "We've got XYZ to stop following you on Twitter, so you no longer have 500 followers, blah, blah blah." In reality, these things fluctuate all the time. And I cannot tell you how hilarious I find it that people devote this amount of time to chasing me across the Internet with their weird little fantasies.

They once even got them into print somewhere, although not anywhere worth reading, and let's not go into what happened to the impudent little scamps. The mistake will not be made again, I can assure you. It is amazing what some of us can do even from an operating table and while under general anaesthetic, even if it is just for fun in view of quite which publication we are talking about. They will have seen how much impact it really has, which is probably why they are quite so bitter and hysterical: adolescent vanity punctured in no uncertain terms.

With even Harry's Place apparently now defunct, where have they now in which to manifest their ongoing nervous breakdowns? It really would take a heart of stone not to laugh. In fact, even some people who do have hearts of stone cannot help themselves in this case.

  1. Quality not quantity, Mr L. There are some frighteningly interesting people among your followers for people in the know.

So not like "the impudent little scamps," then. This is the nearest you have come to admitting the truth of that particular chapter of the David Lindsay legend. There will be many, many more.

  2. He (you know who) really is very sore that he did not get rid of you, that on the contrary you have since risen further and have not stopped yet and nobody remembers his ridiculous "story" now. Spoilt little rich boy who thought he was a bigshot "editor", not the first and not the last. Plus at the end of the day you are liked and he is not.

  3. With his record, it's no wonder nobody believed a word he wrote, not even people usually naive enough to believe anything in that rag. How was he not sent down for what he'd done the year before? Money talks, I suppose.

  4. You have to laugh. What was college's reaction to your "exposure" in that well-respected publication? Your tutor group doubled, the SCR presidency and a seat on the governing body unopposed, and you haven't stopped yet. As for your "nemesis", remind me how his own presidential ambitions elsewhere in college ended up?

Your tutor group doubled? The whole Kamm/Thompson argument is that you didn't have one even though the University Calendar says you have and said it then. You have been terribly wronged by these people but theirs is the only view allowed.

Have to feel sorry for any stupid student "journalist" who sided with them now that they are so obviously on the way out. Thompson summarily sacked from the Catholic Herald, which has been improving ever since. What does he live on, editing the Telegraph blogs for how much longer can't pay all that well? When the Iraq Inquiry reports, will Kamm have the decency to shoot himself?

But the important point is that you were unfairly dismissed. Of course no-one cares what they write in Palatinate, no-one ever did, we all know that. But that is not the real story here.

  6. Oh, I was never a tutor and that is why apparently their own piece (I have never seen it) said that I was, indeed it would have been entirely pointless without that fact.

My personal favourite is their persistent belief that the editorial staff of national newspapers only know what is in each other's papers when it is pointed out to them from the Olympian height that is the editorial office of a student publication which is held in the lowest depth of contempt by everyone who matters at the university in question.

Now, not least in view of certain very funny but utterly unpublishable comments this evening, I really had better close this thread.
