  1. Yes, it seems like we might have another example of "protesters" who also happen to be armed to the teeth. Not that the Assad regime is wonderful, but how do we know that the regime's opponents aren't actually Salafist gangs? It is not a secret that Sunni fanatics hate the Assad regime precisely because it protects Christians and other non-Sunnis.
