Lights Out?

Only if we so choose.

We should be developing nuclear power, and applying clean coal technology. This island stands on coal. And we can obtain uranium from the Canadians, who are not foreigners, but Her Majesty’s Loyal Subjects.

That way lie high-wage, high-skilled, high-status jobs for the working class, and independence from Arab oil and Russian gas. Among many other good things, this would contribute significantly to reversing Thatcher’s destruction of the economic base of paternal authority, initially in working-class families and communities, but then very rapidly throughout society as a whole.

Only public ownership can deliver what is necessary on the scale that is necessary. And public ownership is, of course, British ownership.

  2. This blog has long argued that the citizens of the other Commonwealth Realms should have at least the same rights of entry and abode here as those of EU member-states.

    Your ever-expensive definition of Fascism now unsurprisingly includes:

    - high-wage, high-skilled, high-status jobs for the working class;

    - independence from Arab oil and Russian gas;

    - the reversal of Thatcher’s destruction of the economic base of paternal authority, initially in working-class families and communities, but then very rapidly throughout society as a whole;

    and

    - public ownership, which is, of course, British ownership.

    Well, of course it does.

    Anyway, how goes YOUR attempt to become MP for this seat?

    Oh, I forgot, you are chromosomely ineligible for your party's nomination here, and the sitting MP thinks your generation of that (which is her) party so poor that she is not going to retire after all, certainly not next time, and possibly not ever.
