Maryland (which Obama would have won anyway) may have voted to liberalise its gambling laws, but Missouri and Ohio (where these things are won and lost) both voted against doing so.
So far as I can tell, Missouri is still in dispute, although McCain has certainly not swept home there. And Obama won Ohio.
Obama has been given the Presidency by moral and social conservatives who were attracted by his economic populism and his foreign policy realism.
He owes them.
They mustn't let him forget it.
And they won't.
