If money is so tight, then raffle the chance to inflict the disability of the winner's choice on Liz Kendall. The Assisted Suicide Bill Committee has been shamed into taking evidence from the Royal College of Psychiatrists after all, but Kit Malthouse has told the House of Commons that people who were "reliant on expensive care services" were "costly in monetary terms". They are not the only ones.
But you can work on PIP, I can tell you with absolute certainty that it is extremely hard to get, and every penny that is paid in sickness and disability benefits is spent almost, if almost, immediately. They are an economic stimulus. They are certainly not a reason to want to kill the claimants, who are among the geese that lay the golden eggs.
Yet where is Britain to look for signs of hope? Not to the United States. Donald Trump has pardoned Ross Ulbricht, but not any of the 21 peaceful pro-life demonstrators imprisoned under the FACE Act. He had to promise the Libertarian Party that he would pardon Ulbricht, a promise and a delivery that prove Peter Hitchens's point about Trump. Pro-lifers asked Trump for nothing, and will receive it. Hitchens also points out that Nigel Farage is a drug legaliser while 60 per cent of Reform UK's MPs are in favour of assisted suicide.
Elon Musk is a heavy user of illegal drugs.
ReplyDeleteBetween that well-known fact and the Ulbricht pardon, Trump has effectively legalised drugs.
