The Assisted Suicide Bill Committee voted to take evidence from eight supporters from other jurisdictions and no opponents, from six lawyers in favour and from three neutrals but from none against, from no representative of any disability organisation, and from no psychiatrist.
Then it went into private session. Where it will remain, since it will be hearing evidence without even so much as a transcript, much less a public gallery, a livestream, or any press, radio or television reporting.
Proper scrutiny was a lot of MPs' price of support at Second Reading.
